PeakData Disk Eradication Services Profiled by Sun Microsystems

Boulder, Colo. – July 23, 2007 – PeakData, a value-added reseller of storage services and solutions, said today that its Media Services unit, and in particular its disk eradication service, has been featured by Sun Microsystems in their partner newsletter.  The article can be found at http://www.sun.com/partners/news/2007-0723/feature/index.jsp.

Sun’s interest was peaked when the two companies collaborated on a multi-year, multi-million dollar project to eradicate hundreds of terabytes of data from failed and retired disk drives for a major financial services company.  Up until that time the customer was physically destroying mostly functional drives rather than running the risk of releasing them from their control.

PeakData employs a secure, DoD compliant eradication process – which it performs onsite at the customer’s data centers – to enable the customer to recover hundreds of dollars of value (per disk) from their retired disk drives while eliminating the risk of data falling into the wrong hands.

“We have been very active with our disk eradication offering, particularly in the financial services community, and have already saved many customers hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process,” said CarrieAnne Curtis, vice president and general manager of PeakData’s Media Services unit.  “We are delighted that Sun has recognized the value of this service and, more so, has chosen to share our story with other Sun partners.”
