PeakData Initiates Multi-year Disk Eradication Project
Boulder, Colo. – July 5, 2007 – PeakData, a value-added reseller of storage services and solutions, said today that its Media Services unit has launched a multi-year, multi-location disk eradication project for one of the nation’s largest financial services companies.
The project scope encompasses multiple data centers throughout the U.S. and is designed to eradicate hundreds of terabytes of data from failed and retired disk drives. Prior to the project’s initiation the customer had been physically destroying mostly functional drives rather than running the risk of releasing them from their control.
PeakData employs a secure, DoD compliant eradication process – which it performs onsite at the customer’s data centers – to enable the customer to recover hundreds of dollars of value (per disk) from their retired disk drives while eliminating the risk of data falling into the wrong hands.
“In numerous engagements, including this one, we have demonstrated a rapid and substantial ROI for customers who choose our service to eradicate data rather than destroy their disk drives” said CarrieAnne Curtis, vice president and general manager of PeakData’s Media Services unit. “With this project we have proven that our process not only works, but it can scale massively.”
PeakData is a leading value added reseller of storage systems and storage management software solutions and services to enterprise customers throughout the United States. It is also the U.S. master distributor of the CentricStor virtual tape appliance, a product designed and manufactured by Fujitsu Siemens Computers of Munich. PeakData is headquartered in Boulder County, Colo. For further information please visit: www.peakdatallc.com
